Saltoblatella Montistabularis ( cockroach jump )
Friday (03/06/2011) A new species of cockroach, discovered by a scientist in the middle of the favorite tourist destinations in South Africa. Uniquely, the cockroaches are not like most cockroaches in the world, this cockroach jump, hence called 'Cockroach Jumpers'.
Scientist Mike Picker, a professor zoologist from the University of Cape Town, says that this discovery shows that there is still little knowledge of the human world of insects. Cockroaches are a new type named 'Saltoblatella Montistabularis'. Saltoblattella word itself is derived from the Latin meaning 'cockroach jump'.
Smallest Primates ( Microcebus berthae )
MADAGASCAR - More than 600 new species discovered on the island of Madagascar within the last 11 years, including lemurs who claimed to be the smallest primate in the world.
Experts flora and fauna of the Worldwide Foundation (WWF) identified more than 615 new species in Madagascar in their observations from 1999 to 2010. The species include 41 mammals, 385 plants, 69 amphibians, 61 reptiles, 17 fish and 42 invertebrate animals.
One of their key findings are Microcebus berthae, or lemurs along 10 centimeters in 2000. These animals are then touted as the world's smallest primate. Similarly, as reported by the Daily Mail, Tuesday (06/07/2011).
Unfortunately, the WWF claims the future of new exotic species is threatened following the widespread destruction of forests. Based on data from WWF, Madagascar lost more than 1 million hectares of forest in the last 20 years. Moreover, the political climate heats up due to the coup that occurred in March 2009 and then, tens of thousands of hectares of forest area were looted in order to get wood.
Barbourula Kalimantanensis
Recognized by scientists as the frog-lung berparu not first in the world. These rare animals breathe entirely through the skin. Without the lungs allows the animal to have a more aerodynamic shape to help him maneuver in the rivers of Borneo rain.
Dendrelaphis Kopsteini
Called also Kopstein's bronzeback is a snake that can grow up to 1.5 meters. These animals have bright colors with a mix of blue, green and brown. Although it looks attractive, but this snake has a painful bite.
Spiders bark Darwin (Caerostris darwini)
Spiders bark Darwin (Caerostris darwini) is the world's strongest yarn weavers, 10 times stronger than Kevlar,
During this time, the thread of spider silk have been known as the strongest biomaterials, which can absorb huge amounts of energy before breaking. Now scientists have found that species of spider that has the strongest silk is the spider bark Darwin. Silk floss two times more powerful than other species, and more than 10 times higher than kevlar.
Evolutionary biologists, Ingi Agnarsson, director of the museum of zoology at the University of Puerto Rico, and his team found the spider in Ranomafana National Park, Madagascar, in 2001. Cobweb shaped like a wheel that can be stretched to achieve a diameter of 2.8 meters, and depending on the rivers and small lakes up to 25 meters.
Eleutherodactylus Iberia
With a body length is only 10 millimeters, Mount Iberian frog (Eleutherodactylus Iberia) from Cuba currently holds the Guinness World Record for the smallest frog.
There are only four groups of frogs in the world that emit toxins into their skin defenses, including poison arrow frogs famous in Latin America. But it is unclear how the frog dwarfs use deadly poison it has. The researchers speculate that the frog be stunted because of the evolution of small size to prey on mites that are ignored as food by larger frogs.
Giant Stingray ( Thailand )
A giant stingray stingray species captured in Thailand was claimed to be the largest freshwater fish. Imagine, estimated to weigh just 450 kg or nearly half a ton.
Width stretch his body about 2 meters long and 2.1 meters. When found, the tail does not exist. If including the tail, estimated total length of the stingray was about 5 meters. Fish was arrested on January 28, 2009 in an expedition conducted by the National Geographic in Thailand. The arrests led by biologists from the University of Nevada, Zeb Hogan. The expedition is part of the search giant fish project Megafishes Project to document the 20 largest freshwater fish in the world.
